
WHEEL THROWING 101
This is a 6 week introductory course to the exciting world of wheel-throwing.
You will learn the basics of ceramics in a friendly and encouraging environment, starting with a broad slab of clay and progressing all the way through to a finished piece of work. We will focus on making functional ware such as cups, bowls and vases.
You will learn: basic ceramic theory; ceramics OH & S and good studio practice; wedging; centring; the forming of vessels on the wheel; finishing techniques such as trimming and decorating; glazing.
The course will be limited to 6 participants, allowing for lots of individual tuition.
Pieces can be picked up 4 weeks after the workshop.
Aprons will be provided. Please bring a towel and wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty.
Pieces can be collected 3 -4 week after the course finishes.
No prior experience needed. Perfect for beginners.
6 x 2.5 hour sessions on Tuesday evenings
Cost: $350
This course will be facilitated by Emily Hassel, an experienced ceramics practitioner whose work involves detailed illustration in the figurative tradition. @emilyhoofceramics
