Artists at Atherton

We ran a series of painting workshops with young people on the Atherton Gardens estate to beautify the community garden area and basketball courts.

We had 5 groups of artists run 3 X 3 hr workshops each week with kids to create the murals. Kids helped with the mural design, and then worked to create the murals with the artists by stencilling, spraying fills and painting patterns.

They were energetic and enthusiastic, and had a lot of fun drawing their ideas and creating the works. The works responded to the theme of home, and incorporated magic gardens, mystic journeys and basketball games. There were 5 workshops in total involving 11 muralists from Melbourne, Berlin and Paris.

Graffiti Work

As a part of the Artful Dodgers social enterprise program we are completing a number of graffiti jobs for clients, these include construction hoardings, kids centres and housing estates

The Artful Dodgers Studio lends out our people to work on paid installations

This social enterprise allows alumni from the Studio to work with and teach other graf artists passing on knowledge and skills. Importantly participants are shown skills in how to approach paid work, skills like:

working to a brief
design and sketching
organisation to order materials
